The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) has named Insigniam co-founding partner and the editor-in-chief of Insigniam Quarterly, Shideh Sedgh Bina, as one of their “Women of the Year,” on behalf of her outstanding contributions to furthering the HBA’s goal of catalyzing leadership development of women in healthcare worldwide.

Mrs. Bina receives her distinction alongside Annalisa Jenkins, executive vice president, Merck Serono, and Dr. Patricia A. Maryland, president and chief operating officer, Ascension Health; all of whom received the title “Woman of the Year” in honor of the HBA’s 25th anniversary.

“It is a privilege to be recognized by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and in the company of these two remarkable women, Annalisa Jenkins and Dr. Patricia A. Maryland,” says Mrs. Bina. “The disruptive forces in healthcare present us with the unique opportunity to reinvent healthcare as it should be — not as we have inherited. Healthcare can be something that lifts the human spirit and elevates the quality of life, and must be managed with innovation, rigor, and integrity. I look forward to working closely with the HBA and my fellow WOTY recipients in seizing the opportunity of this unique moment in time to transform healthcare and, in doing so, to catalyze the enormous contribution of professional women throughout healthcare.”

Mrs. Bina will be formally recognized, along with Jenkins and Maryland, at the Silver Anniversary Woman of the Year (WOTY) event, on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the New York Hilton, New York, NY — the premier event of the year for the healthcare community, attended by more than 2,500 industry leaders.

“Our Silver Anniversary celebrates 25 years of remarkable women leaders. It was important to mark these momentous milestones in a distinctive way,” says Jeanne Zucker, 2014 HBA president and vice president of client development at Athenahealth Inc. “We are honoring three top-flight women leaders this year, highlighting the broad continuum of care and underscoring our responsiveness to the changing dynamics of the healthcare arena and the importance of leadership collaboration across the spectrum of healthcare.”

As one of the founding partners of Insigniam — a global consulting firm headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa. — Shideh has dedicated more than 25 years to the mission of transforming the world of business, management, and leadership by unleashing the power of inspired human performance, thereby catalyzing breakthrough results and unlocking remarkable value. An expert in managing change, innovation, and enterprise-wide transformation in a broad range of industries, Mrs. Bina is regarded for her own leadership and vision in helping shape companies into leading edge players in healthcare.

“Shideh has consulted with virtually every large pharmaceutical firm, as well as myriad startups, biotechs, healthcare systems, hospitals, and medical device companies,” says Nathan O. Rosenberg, Insigniam co-founding partner. “Her work has accelerated FDA approval of lifesaving drugs, resolved consent decrees, streamlined R&D processes, developed leaders, elevated standards of care, and generated billions of dollars of value. Her coaching has helped elevate the leadership provided by literally hundreds of healthcare executives, and her leadership has built Insigniam and developed effective consultants who have extended her reach and impact. We, at Insigniam, thank the HBA for recognizing our partner and leader.”
